Maintenance of Certification (MOC):

  • Physicians seeking to maintain their certification must undergo an examination process annually to ensure they remain current with advancements in the field.

Certification Application Process

Application Requirements:

Before scheduling your examination, ensure that you have completed the following:

  1. Approval for Examination:
    • You must be approved for an ABOG qualifying examination. This involves meeting the eligibility criteria set by ABOG.
  2. Eligibility Notification:
    • You will receive notification confirming your eligibility to sit for the examination.

Scheduling Your Examination

Steps to Schedule:

  1. Create a Pearson VUE Account:
    • First-time test takers must set up a Pearson VUE web account. Ensure that your name and address information matches what you provided to ABOG to avoid discrepancies.
  2. Make an Appointment:
    • You can schedule your exam appointment up to one business day in advance. Appointments are made on a first-come, first-served basis.
  3. Confirmation Details:
    • After scheduling, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation email containing:
      • Your test date and time
      • The address and contact number of the test center
      • Directions to the test center

Exam Day Procedures

Identification Requirements:

  • Arrival Time:
    • Arrive at the test center 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete sign-in procedures. Late arrivals will not be accommodated.
  • Required Identification:
    • Primary ID: Must be current and include your photograph and signature. Acceptable IDs include:
      • Passport
      • Government-issued photo driving license (full or provisional)
      • State or country identification card
      • Alien registration card, green card, or permanent resident visa
      • Military ID
      • School ID
      • Employee ID
    • Secondary ID: Must contain your signature. Acceptable IDs include:
      • Any of the primary IDs
      • Credit/debit or ATM card
      • U.S. Social Security card

Test Materials:

  • You will be provided with an erasable note board and marker for the duration of the exam. Note that no additional scratch paper is allowed.

Results:

  • Examination results will not be available at the test center. ABOG will provide results directly to you.
