Essential Information for ACA Certificate Level and ICAEW CFAB Exams

Overview

The ACA Certificate Level and ICAEW CFAB exams are crucial steps in the qualification process for aspiring accountants and finance professionals. This guide provides comprehensive information about accessing exam results, handling Credit for Prior Learning (CPL), and understanding exam logistics. For detailed assistance and inquiries, refer to the official ICAEW resources.

Exam Results and Timing

If you are scheduled to receive results for both ACA Certificate Level and ICAEW CFAB exams on the same day as the ACA Professional or Advanced Level exams, be aware that your results will be released slightly later, around 12:00 PM (UK time).

Accessing Your Results:

  • Online Training File: Check your exam results through the Examinations tab in your online training file at ICAEW Training File.
  • Results Dates: For a complete schedule of Professional and Advanced Level exam results, consult the ACA planner or the exam section on the ICAEW website.

Handling Credit for Prior Learning (CPL)

Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) can impact your exam requirements. It’s essential to stay updated on your CPL status and understand its implications.

CPL Status:

  • No Exam Required: If you have been awarded CPL, you do not need to take the corresponding exam.
  • Consequences of Taking the Exam: If you attempt the exam after receiving CPL and fail, the CPL credit will be revoked, and you will not be eligible for a refund.
  • Cancellation and Refunds: You may cancel your exam if awarded CPL. With at least 24 hours’ notice, you are entitled to a refund of the exam fee.

Apprenticeship Students

Students enrolled in Level 4 or Level 7 apprenticeships should be aware that they should not bear any costs related to their apprenticeship exams.

Important Points:

  • No Personal Payment Required: Ensure that if you are required to pay for your exam entry fee, you can reclaim this cost through your organization’s expense system.
  • Verify Costs: Confirm with your employer or training provider about any potential costs and reimbursement procedures.

Exam Appointment Information

Understanding the specifics of your exam appointment is crucial for a smooth examination experience. You have the option to take your exam at a test centre or via remote invigilation.

Exam Delivery Options:

  • Test Centre: You will take the exam on a computer provided by the test centre. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time to complete the sign-in procedures.
  • Remote Invigilation (OnVUE): If you choose to take the exam remotely, ensure you are familiar with the policies and procedures. For more information, visit Pearson VUE OnVUE.

Important Notes:

  • Late Arrival: If you arrive more than 15 minutes past your scheduled start time, you may be denied entry and will need to reschedule, incurring additional costs.
