IIP Certification Testing: A Comprehensive Guide

Welcome to the American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII) scheduling portal for the Imaging Informatics Professional (IIP) Certification. This guide will walk you through the essential steps to apply for, schedule, and complete your certification exam.

Understanding IIP Certification

The Imaging Informatics Professional (IIP) Certification, overseen by the ABII, is a distinguished credential for professionals in the field of imaging informatics. It is designed to validate your expertise in managing and optimizing imaging informatics systems, which are crucial for modern healthcare delivery.

Certification Application Process

Before you can schedule your IIP Certification exam, ensure you have completed the following prerequisites:

  1. Submit Your Application: Apply for the IIP certification through the ABII official website. Ensure all required documentation and qualifications are provided.
  2. Eligibility Notification: Wait to receive confirmation from ABII that you are eligible to sit for the examination. This typically involves an email with important details about your exam.
  3. Fee Payment: Pay the examination authorization fee. This payment confirms your intention to sit for the exam and allows you to move forward with scheduling.
  4. ABII ID Number: Ensure you have received your ABII ID number, which is necessary for scheduling and accessing your exam details.

Scheduling Your Examination

Once you have completed the application process and received your eligibility notification, follow these steps to schedule your exam:

  1. Create a Pearson VUE Account: First-time test takers must create an account with Pearson VUE, the examination provider. Note that account activation may take up to 24 hours. You will be notified by email once your account is active.
  2. Use Your ABII ID: When setting up your Pearson VUE account, you will need to enter your ABII ID number in the section labeled “ARRT ID.” This is essential for identifying your records. For clarity, any mention of ARRT should be interpreted as ABII in this context.
  3. Verify Information: If there have been any changes to your personal information (name, address, etc.) since your application, make sure these discrepancies are resolved with ABII before arriving at the test center.
  4. Schedule Your Exam: You can schedule your test appointment up to one business day in advance. Test centers are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so early scheduling is recommended.

Receiving Confirmation

After scheduling your exam, Pearson VUE will send you a confirmation email. This email will include:

  • Your test date and time
  • The address and phone number of the test center
  • Directions to the test center

Important Note: If you do not receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of scheduling, it is crucial to contact Pearson VUE to ensure your appointment was successfully completed.
